PNG (Portable Network Graphics)
PNG graphics are only supported by Internet Explorer 4.0 at the moment. The PNG format is similar to GIF but supports greater colour depth than the 256 colours of a gif, more complex transparency and colour and gamma correction. Because it is such an improvement on GIF compression it looks set to become a common format in future versions of both browsers.
